i've done nearly all of my production on my classic triton, the one before they came with a usb conncetion, now im ready to step into the computer producing world. My question is should go and buy a usb midi controller or just get a midi interface and use my triton as the controller?

you'd probably be fine with a midi interface to get started, see how you like it. You can get one for like 30 bux, if you don't like it, then you can get a controller.

Use what ya got first...unless you just want a controller for more integration with the various knobs and such. I'm not sure, but I'd imagine you can map your triton knobs and such to whatever software you are using.

You'll probably always be fine with a interface considering you have a good board. You can use it as a controller or you can use some of them sounds in it, or all for that matter. So I'll say go for the interface.

like dude said before me the only convenience I see of getting a controller is you could route knobs and sliders, but eh. its definitely not worth giving up extra sounds imo
