I play in an alt pop band. Currently I'm using an Akai MPC 1000 and a Korg R3. I'm looking to buy a synthesizer for the purpose of playing bass lines. I'm underwhelmed by the novation bass station, or at least by what I've seen of it. I've been thinking about the Microkorg XL, the Alesis Micron and the Akai Miniak. Factory presets aren't priority for me really, I'll be editing/making my own patches anyway. Which of these would produce the best basslines? Is there a synth I haven't mentioned that will do the job? Thanks for your help!

There's tons of synths that would do the job - and honestly, while all of those mentioned are ok synths, none of them would really be on my list (the Miniak & Micron are the same synth with a different name, btw) - I guess my biggest beef with them is the limited user interface; they basically all need a computer to really go deep with the editing. Moog Little/Slim Phatty, Doepfer Dark Energy, DSI Mopho, Access Viruses, Nord Leads, Vermona Mono Lancet, Analogue Solutions Leipzig, MFB's *zwerg series, Oberheim SEM, Studio Electronics SE-1x - just to name a few. There's plenty of options
