Hey what's the deal cats? I'm looking for a cheap synth perferably with a midi in/out so I can hook it up to my MPC 2000XL. Now I want something I can create grimy synth basslines on and nothing more. I'm talking the J-Dilla Detroit-style grimy kind. Now if you read most of my posts you'll see I'm really wanting one. I found a nice Korg Delta but I'm wondering how they are and if there's anything I can get for cheaper. I don't want a full sized keyboard but something small yet affordable and reliable. Peace

Just so you know, I'm pretty sure the Korg Delta doesn't have MIDI at all. Probably DIN sync or simple trigger I/O.

You're not going to get anything very good for much cheaper, but you could consider a 2nd hand Korg MS2000 or a MicroKorg...check Ebay.

Krushing is right; I don't think the Korg Delta has MIDI - unless a MIDI retrofit kit was installed by a previous owner.
WOuldn't you be better off with a vintage MIDI synth ike a Roland Juno 106 or a Roland ALphaJuno 2 with its programmer ?
    What's your budget ?

I'm looking into something in the $100-300 range. I checked some Roland's out on eBay and they're kinda pricey. Any suggestions for something not as big. I'm diggin the MicroKorg's size I just wanna know I'ma be able to make those grimy basslines. Peace

Novation A-Station can be picked up in that range as well...on the tight budget side of things it is a great synth...shop around for used and you can find some good deals...i got mine with a korg ms2000r...$500 for the pair...the A-Station is a bit more grimey / gritty / dirty sounding than the korg

Used Waldorf microQ, used novation bass station, Used Waldorf Pulse. I THINK that you can get most of those for $300 these days. You may have to add a bit more though, I havent looked up any of those synths on ebay for a while now.

    With $300?

Yamaha Loop series. AN200 is OK, but consider storage and sequencer limitationsº...

You can get a Yamaha RM1X with $300. Great sounds like Pulse basses, pluck basses, some synth leads that sound cool with arppegiators, nice noises, a 16 track sequencer....

Other options are roland grooveboxes, but the sound of the Yamaha RM1X is a lot better for your purposes.

Also, Korg Electribe EA-1 around $150. very original and fat sound and with 1/4 audio inputs, but limited on quantity of sounds. I love Electribes.

The MS-2000r seems like the type of synth you want, but it is a $100 dollars over your budget.

The Korg EA-1 is perfect unless you plan on using more than 2 sounds at a time on the synth. The EA-1 sounds damn good to me. I think it is underrated.

Im a Dilla fan too im thinking u should look out for the following

    Novation K-station
    Novation Bass station
    Alesis Micron or Ion
    Micro korg

I was in the market for a synth mainly for bass too but ended up in the deep end with a Korg Prophecy.

If I actually learn to use it, it will be dope.

    lol
