Does anyone know if the buttons on the LPD8 are programmable?
I want to be able to program it to the Tap Tempo in Ableton Live... anyone know if this is possible??

if tap tempo in ableon is midi mappable, then yes. most likely there is a 'learn' function in ableton and you press the button or turn the knob on the lpd8.
Tap tempo in Ableton?

Well I've only got the trial of ableton. I'm still coming to terms with it's workflow etc.
How do you do tap tempo?
hit ctrl+m or cmd+m (pc or mac) and they all go blue. Click the TAP button, then hit whichever pad (on whichever bank) you want.
I wonder if this can be done with Prog Change, though... works for transport....

^^^ Yeah I know you can do that... or even assign it to a key on a keyboard.
But what Im really wondering is if you can assign it to one of the "extra" buttons and not the pads, so I can have a permanent tap tempo button instead of having to assign it to a pad and then delete that assignment when im done every single time.

Well if you can map it to a program change, then you hit PROG CHANGE (under PAD BANK 2) and then one of your pads is always a tap, unless you're using all your PCs for something.... (can PC map to something like TAP?)
THAT would be nice.
Wonder when decent maps will come out for these (LPD/MPK mini) Reason 5 Kong can't even access all 16 pads, only the first row and the second half of the last row... bizarre...
AFAIK the buttons like (bank 1/2, cc, prog change, arp controls, etc) are hard wired through the onboard controller and are not mappable (maybe with some hacking, but it seems they are meant to be left alone)
