Synths that were used a lot in the 80s were the Roland Juno-60, Roland Jupiter 8, Sequential Prophet 5, PPG Wave 2.3, Yamaha DX-7, Emulator II and Oberheim OB-Xa and OB-8 and Fairlight III. The Linn LM-1 and Linndrum were used a lot for drums. These were mostly used in the early to mid 80s. If you're going for more of a late 80s sound, then synths like the Roland D-50 and Korg M1 were the big ones.
