Ey what the fvck do you know about that, when you haven't even tried an MPC. And if the only differences you can see are "warmth, and being able to play the drums manually, rather than programming them", then you have completely misunderstood.

Before Reasons, before Lives, there was the MPC. I remember when it was the ONLY option for hip-hop production and MIDI sequencing (while there were the "nothing beats an SP 12" crowd). Now I use all and everything. The MPC still got the best drum automation. I just can get it right on Reason. MIDI is beautiful.
If the MPC worked in 97 it will work today, just like the SP did in '87. But I like how my software can save at any bitrate up to 24 while CDs are still at 16. On the MPC you can only save at 16 bit and 12 on the SP.

EDIT-I've been uploading drum sequences I made back in the day from my MPC onto Reason...OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH

Ever herd of a little thing called Korg Pad Control?

Any ways for the users that are costumed to the way they work with the MPC that’s fine for you, you got used to that. But I am dam if you catch me spending 5k on PT HD because I never learned how to use another sequencer. I use PT because for me it’s more stable than Cusabe SX 3, and apart from Logic it’s the only other sequencer with built in Side-Chaining. But I do know how to use Cubase and if I ever try SX 4 and find it stable and some good side-chaining plugs I would buy it. For me and this discussion of the MPC, I would never buy that piece of hardware as it’s just to way overpriced on what you get. I wouldn’t say never, but unless one falls in my laps from the sky or something, not gonna happen. To others enjoy it. I would rather spend the money on Roland Fantom, Juno, Access Virus, or some kind of nice synth.

if u guys are thinking about hardware.. think logicaly what does ur computer stress more on sampling or soft synth music? if its softsynth then buy a synth if its sampling buy a sampler.. and if u wanna go rambo and say **** computer buy an mpc.. its a sequencer with tic correction and swing its an fx processor with lfos a drum machine a sound module a midi controller these are basics but its what u get in a metal case.

if u wanna go with computer then u gotta purchase the case the os the memory the case fans and processor fan monitor all this for the price of an mpc . ohh and now the software lol now ur officially broke and a liscne agreement that ull pay everytime there an update

midi controllers kinda suck. Including that korg joint.
bangin on a midi controller is definetly not the same as bangin on mpc pads. but dont get it confused..
everything good u mention about a mpc is basically just a luxury that u can do without.. Warmth.. feel.. the pads..those are all just luxuries.
and u dont need to drive in a Bentley to get from point A to point B.. but for the rich, then **** it, might as well ride in style!

Ive been using my MPC for about 9 years now, i know that machine like the back of my hand! But the truth is times are changing. As far as loading samples the mpc cant compare to the MASSIVE storage space a laptop and a hardrive can bring you not to mention programs these days can load way more samples and at a faster rate.it gets a little crazy when you got 50 zip disks trying to find that one just blaze snr you forgot to label vs your WHOLE library at your fingertips. im getting ready to crossover to battery for that reason.i still use my mpc because i know it so well. but with the software and quality samples and technology that improve dramaticly every couple of months. the "feel" and "sound" of something is becaong a thing of the past. just do you! but keep your eye to the future as well. -J-
I can't believe i get PAID for doing this!
    I love my job!

ive been beat making for about 6 years now, started with the ASR10 then software came along... it wasnt until early 05 that i had my first mpc, the 1000... then had the MV, then the 2500 which has been my fav, then back to all software with the trigger finger... but due to some snakey situations my stuff got jacked a few months ago so im back to square one. im looking to either get the 1000 again or the 2000xl, i can get the 2500 again when i have the cash later on. but i love the mpc for the sequencing and workflow mostly, and i just like how it makes your drums sound compared to software. and the note repeat button... oh how i love it lol... but i think once i get a pc together, im just gonna get the 1000 or 2kxl and cop a controller and use reason to get me going until other things come along. i can bust out tracks in reason pretty fast but the mpc is just more intuitive and hands on to me, a little more musical for me. so thats why i opt to get one again for a few hundred bucks
