keep your motif and jut buy a Virtual analog synthesizer instead. The Fantom is a great all in one workstation but the motif is a better sound module in my opinion because it retains more of its voices in mutlimode. The motif has 8 inserts effects, while the Fantom only has 3. The motif also has EQ for each midi channel, the fantom does not. If you want synth sounds find the PLG expansion cards for the motif...get the FM synthesis one and the PLG-AN joints and you will have new synths to play with. You already know the motif well enough why get rid of it and pick up something you know nothing about? To me that would slow my creative process down. My opinion I could be wrong....but I have owned both machines.

If somebody is offering you a straight up trade and it doesn"t make any difference to you, do the trade. Resale value's are higher on Fantoms by about $400-$600. And I personally like the Fantom over the Motif. Way broader range of sounds, and now they have the XV sounds for them too.
