Roland SP 808 - Step Recording

I have a machine Roland SP 808 and would love to learn how I record mode STEP REC a hip hop and how do you sequence the BPM after sequencing the pads.

I'm not certain on the 808, but I have an MC-505....

Press REC > REC again > PLAY and you should enter step recording mode
