the S1000 was the workhorse of the decade. very similar to the S950 to use and very much like the original MPC2000 as a sampler but with extra features as an instrument but without the MIDI input pads or a sequencer.
it just has a more recent architecture, cleaner sound and more features.
the S2000 is very good. i'd say stick with it and get a S950 one day and use it just for drums. 12 bit snares and hihats and 8bit resampled kicks... yeah baby !
