I read something about that on the mpc forums. I didn't know if it were true or not. I thought they pulled the plug on the 4000 too quick, and now it seems like they are doing the same thing with the 5000.

I think the 5000 could still be a big seller, but they need to stay on top of the OS's.

Its a hoax,just like the 1200 turntable being discontinued.

Why would Akai discontinue a MPC thats only about 2 years old.
Don`t belive everything you read online.

I just confirmed this with a Akai dealer.

really? an akai dealer i spoke with in my area said they were going too. and the guitar center in my area stopped carrying them but then again they only carry the 1000 and 500 now.
