MPC help, sounds like sounds are competing to be heard

Say I record my drums in a 2 bar loop. Whenever I switch to track 2 and try to record my sample, it sounds like I'm recording into track 1 and I don't hear both the sample and drums, just the sample. Anyone have an idea of what's going on?
 
make sure your drums and other sample are in different PGMs
check if the solo F button is turned on
 
what!!??

SOLO would be highlighted if it is enabled
you would know if it is on also if you simply play the sequence and change the track.

It sounds like you have your program playback settings set to MONO and you have both the drums and samples all on the same program.'

Go to Mode program/sample and Turn mono to Polly

Or better yet always make a new program for your samples and put that program with the samples to MONO.
