if you want a portable-ish mpc then you an look the the mpc1000? don't know if it runs on batteries, if that's what you need.

500 is a bad buy unless you HAVE to have the key feature. battery power/mobile. But you loose many features most people need. 1000 used is about the same price and plenty portable. that's the way to go.
