Mpc!!!

What is akai thinking?!!! Why did they stop making the mpc2500? Why aren't they selling them anymore in retail stores? They kept the 1000, with its wack ass pads, but they got rid of the 2500? Is it because of people wanting to go out and get that JJOS?

News flash, break bread with JJ and bring the mpc 2500 back. Allow customers to buy it on a payment plan, and the sales will go up. Make it a reduced price since they have the 5000 out too, and have it be like the Lexus, IS (1000) GS (2500) and LS (5000) forgive me if i didn't get that analogy right, but ya'll know what i'm saying!!!

damn. i just want a 2500 but i want the akai warranty on it too. whats so hard about that? the 2500 is the shit. the 1000 would be dope if they didn't have those weak ass pads. i cant stand those.

end rant here.

they put the 500 pads in the 1000? The 500 came out in 2006 the 1000 came out in 2003. And the 500 pads are smaller. Either way I think it has more to do with people simply liking the 1000. It is the highest selling mpc of all time. I personally prefer the 2000 and 3000 to the 1000 myself.

1000 was the most affordable of the "real" mpc's.
(and by that i mean the non portable more traditional mpcs).
i just think akai needed to price drop. a new mpc 1000 cost $1000 not worth it inmho. thats the price of a freaking interface.
if the $1000 was at a price comparable to the maschine ($500 or so bucks) than it would make a killing.

Whats funny is the mpc 1000 was made to be the portable mpc. It was considered the portable mpc until the 500 came out. Oh how I realize Ive been making beats way too long. I also agree if the mpc $1000 went new for say $600 i think they would still be just as popular if not more so. Then again I think many people use software because they can get it for free.

so make the mpc1000 like half the price, bring back the 2500 for 1000, and make the 5000 2000. thats good business?

idk about selling the 2500 or 1000 or the 5000 2000 but I think the 1000 is really only worth about 600-700 new. thats just me

Out of the box, I don't see the 2500 and 1000 being a lot different, other than physical features. I think the difference in price for the three are pretty decent. Not saying that $600-$700 for a 1000 wouldn't be a good idea, but the difference between the three aren't bad at all.

yeah but that would just be good for them regardless. because people aren't even really purchasing hardware like that. they'd rather get the midi version and connect it to a computer. so milk the mpc 1000 cow and bring back the 2500! and you got your 5000.

it breaks up the market. like oh shit all i got to spend is 700 so imma cop that 1000. or oh shit i got like 850 i can either cop the 1000 and use the other 150 towards a synth or just save another 150 and get that 2500.

and then the 5000 would be like the triton/fantom/motif

Im not saying they are largely different besides the physical features but thats part of the thing too Idk I would still pay $1200 for a 2500 and wouldn't personally bother with a 1000 but thats just me. Its just too small for me.

I dont think they are going to bring the 2500 or 5000 back. I think Just Blaze's review on the 5000 kinda DOA'd it to be honest.

the 1000 and 2500 are not much different in features at all.. once you have jjos installed the 1000 is a complete beast of a machine....

in regards to the pads.. its mainly the older blue model mpc1000 that has the weak ass pads you refer to, the newer black models tend to have the new pads installed.

i have had my mpc1000 for almost 3 years now and still using the original box standard pasd that came with it.

even if they dont its not alot of money to install the pad upgrade.

Akai customer service is tough to get. They may go the way of ReBirth:
