MPC 2000XL and Ableton Live 8 midi sync issue

Why when I have Ableton Live set to receive MMC and externally synced to my MP are the tempo and timing all screwed up?

It's roughly the same tempo as the MPC, but keeps flipping back and forth between 2 or 3 different values.

Someone halp! :mad:
