I am trying to sequence my alesis micron through my mpc. I have them hooked up correctly and everything. When ever I play a melody with one sound from the micron and want to go to the next track to add another part like bass it plays back the melody I played at first accept with a bass sound. so I wanted to know how to move on to the next track with a new sound without it playing the melody I played at first.

You will have to utilize the different midi channels.
Each midi port can have upto 16 different channels.
First set them on the MPC. I have a 4k, and to do this, I simply go to the main screen and select the channel next to the track name. The options will be like 1a, 2a, 3a, 4a and so on. So, (in the main screen) for track one: set it from drums to midi, turn the program to 'off' and set the midi channel to 1a. For trach 2 do the same but set the midi channel to 2a, and so on. This will allow you to play one melody on track one and a different one on track two at the same time, to create an entire composition.

You now need to set up your module to recieve the different channels. I have a fantom so you will need to read your manual on information about how to do this, but it's a standard midi function so you should be able to do it.

Hope this helps and try reading the manuals they will explain it alot better than me, but providing your module can recive mutiple midi channels it can be done.

You could also send a program change from the mpc. I just started to do this with my S5000 and mpc1000. With my setup it's mostly on the S5000's end. I assign a program number to the programs in the S5k I plan on using, and when I send a program change from the mpc, the track switches to that program. But, I think creative mind's way is easier to do. But sending program changes works too, you can get more patches with less midi i/o
