    I need a drum machine for a live/studio set..
    I do hip/hop-gospel.. Should I get the MPC-2kxl

    Or a 2nd hand Novation Drumstation (I saw one one - a little time ago - on eBay for only $250 !!).
    I'm not specific into hip-hop, but I think that machine is useful for all rhythm purposes.

    Well, you have 20 factory and 20 user programs (drumbanks: 808, 909, ......), where you can choose a program from, and - so wanted - even can add your own sounds.

    Go with the sampler. What you can do is if you know your setlist you can create sample sets specific to the songs you play then you can tweak at will live and it sounds cool as hell. That was the most fun i had spinning when I used to drag out my EPS.

    man its the easiest! i used to make sequences to just fly between songs so I could cue up 2 different records then just cut over it and start mixing the next song... makes the dj sound so damn phat, people just trip!

    make sure you get one thats expanded. If you can find an ASR 10 cheap grab that instead. more features and alot better quality.
