Hey guys. Well, my friend showed me the power of software ie.Cubase etc and I felt as if I was limited on the mpc. He recommended me to cop some software for my mac book pro, like protools, but that will be a lot of money for me lol. Im only 17. I was wondering if I bought the Korg MicroKorg.. I can make my samples and beat sound more alive and unique? Ive messed around with one at GC, but I couldnt understand where people were getting the raw bass from it. If I were to get it.. Do I just connect that to the mpc and will I have to always record the melody I make with the microkorg? I do have some software such as garageband. Will I be able to apply the microkorg onto my beat on garageband w/o always having to record on the mpc and drain my sample time?? (I can upgrade my harddrive on the mpc to give me more sampling time, but then I dont want to spend much dough).

    THANKS

Upgrading your hardrive does not give you more sample time that only allows for more storage. Not even sure which MPC u own but I recommend u max it to its fullest.

One thing I dont like about the Microkorg is b/c its not multitambral meaning u cant access 16 channels u can only access 1 so u will either be limited to dat one sound or sampling the sound into your MPC.

If you really wanna try something u could do your full complete beat, track it out to software track by track, then take the audio outs from your microkorg, and record onto a new track along to the beat.

If not sample into the MPC.

Also investing in new software, gear, ect. will not make your beats better its what you do with the new item that will allow your capabilities to expand.

That may be true, but software like Cubase will let you around it. You can set up MIDI input interpreting rules (assigning certain keys to certain channels, octaves, etc.). I'm not at home so I don't have the directions here, but maybe i'll post it up later.
