Everyone has their opinion on these two, I realize they are totally different and one does not simply replace the other. Just like every instrument and every person, each is unique and has their own strengths and weaknesses. I am well aware that it's not the instrument but the person working it. I just want to hear everyone's INFORMED non-biased opinion on these two, wether you are an MPC head or reccently found love with the Maschine. As for me, I love my MPC2000xl, I know it well and I am super comfortable with it. The one thing pulling me away is technology obviously. MPC are amazing, just slow. I don't mind it much but tracking slows down my process.

I know there are probably tons of these threads out there. I've seen them before and they don't have any meaningful content. Please do not post things like "yo dog, nothing can compete with the Mpc dog, for real doe. It's the truth" or "The mpc is outdated son!"
I realize there are positives and negatives, just point out what they are in your opinion. State what you use and maybe what features keep you curious about the other.

It all depends on what you like sound wise... Some like the maschine some like the mpc... and some of us analog guys say they sound the same . Just do what you want and don't worry so much about the pros and cons of the gear! They both get the job done!

Had my MPC1000 for four years. It was cool. Got the job done. But I just felt unsatisfied. Felt like I needed a little more. So started to think about upgrading or possibly moving to software....(Now let me remind u that I was against software for a looong time). But as time passed I started to think there might be benefits to software but wasn't ready to completely give up my MPC...So I did some research and decided Imma get a new MPC (So I can still have something Im comfortable with) and get a good software (That doesn't confuse the f*ck outta me, but still benefit from the features)....so long story short (lol), I got an MPC5000 and now looking to get a good software to compliment my MPC so I can enjoy best of both worlds....I'm sorry if that doesn't answer your question lol...But I would say software gives you more features and options but MPC gives u a better workflow but with both u have to sacrifice something.

Awesome thanks for the input, yeah software just takes your production to a better more creative level. It's an important part of the work. What software you leaning towards?
How comfortable was your switch to one of the newer mpcs?

right now i use a prophet 08 and some older Roland racks. I had a Juno 106 while back but parted with it, i find the prophet is on par with the poly monsters of the 80s! It can even make some killer drum sounds with proper programing!

MPC can stand alone, its the only thing I take with me wheh Im away from home, My train from London had plugs so I could make a beat on the journey. There simple, no virus, no software updates ect..plus like you said theres so much to learn and so many small tricks too apply, which with software gets overlooked because theres so many filter and FX plugins..Only problem I find is chopping and loading sampls takes agggess and it doesnt take 24bit samples..

however I use Logic when Im at a friends and for makeing Electro and house/dubstep type music Machince would have the upper hand..
