I need a midi AND keyboard?

Hi, sorry if this is a dumb question, but here it goes anyway.

I am looking for a midi controller that I can also play without being plugged through my computer. So it would have speakers (or a headphone jack at the very least) and at least a couple sounds on the keyboard itself so that I wouldn't have to hook it up to my computer everytime I want to mess around. But the midi functionality is the most important part and I want it to be under $200.


When I was looking on amazon, a lot of the portable keyboards have usb connectivity. Does that mean they have midi or no? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

So does that mean any keyboard with a usb input has midi functionality that I can run through fl studio/cubase etc?

Practically, yes. Not that USB automatically means MIDI functionality, but pretty much every keyboard (bar a few curiosities) that has entered the market after 1983 (when MIDI was introduced) have some sort of MIDI capabilities - and nowadays most manufacturers use USB for easy compatilibility (instead of the regular MIDI DIN connectors).
