    Decent microphone for homestudio

So I am trying to set up a little humble home studio and I do need a decent microphone to record. Something affordable but with professional sound quality (Something in the $100-$300 range if possible). I use a MacBook Pro and Logic, so whatever is most compatible with that.

Also, can you list accessories that go well with it? I will definitely need a stand and one of those little "sound blockers" you can put behind the microphone. Thanks!!

A great mic for 200 dollars would be the Rode NT1. It is probably the best in its category here is a link to check it out, its only 229.00 and it comes with the pop filter and the mount for it. It also comes with an XLR cable. Its a condesor mic so you need to make sure your A.I. has phantom power, to power the mic. Must newer ones do, but you need to be sure.

Sweet! Thanks so much it looks great so far. Even though I am slightly confused with what phantom power is lol. And how can I find out if it does?

As I said, I use Logic Pro (and Reason. Cubase occasionally too). I really don't know anything about pre-amps or if it is necessary at all doing everything digitally. Argh, such a noob lol.

Condenser mics need electricity to power them, so thats what the phantom power is used for. Ussaly on the Interface there is just a switch to turn it on. And when look a the specs on the Interface it should say 48volt phantom power, sometimes more. Basically Phantom power just powers your mic, but you can google for more information. So I need to plug that microphone into this phantom power thing and that again to my wall? Does it come with the microphone?

No, You just plug the mic into the interface via the mic cables, the phantom power is built into the interface. All you do is press a on button for it. Your interface will go into the computer etc...

sir you really need to study the basics of recording...not clowning you at all..but spend some time in the Recording,Mixing, and Mastering section

and take Olivia500 up on the setting up studio link
you have a lot of studying to do M.King...recording engineering is a lot work at the beginning but once you got it, it's alot of fun

I understand and I agree even but I also think you can learn alot by trial and error. At the end of the day I will still get this set up as I need it regardless. And while I'm doing that I can learn along the way as well.
