Not really, no.
You can probably get a decent *microphone* for $100...
Add to that a preamp... Another $100 if you want a piece of junk, $200 for something relatively usable, $500 for something quite decent and up from there.
What gets recorded is entirely dependent on what the room sounds like vs. the proximity to the microphone and its sensitivity. If you're trying to keep a lot of ambience at bay, go with a dynamic microphone. Not nearly as sensitive as a condenser, and many times a better fit for vocals generally anyway.

MASSIVE is right, dynamic mic is better for less room noise and a good dynamic shouldn't cost more than $150US

get the audio tecnia dr-cx1 it is a great mic and i use it in a matress vocal booth.
