umm... what the hell are you trying to say exactly that was kind of rambling you know especially near the end...

how do you make a self taught musician play softer?

put sheet music in front of him

"older people like 15 and up"

Whatever, man. This wasn't about hating, just trying to push you into a direction that would've produced a little longer-lasting results than just telling you what to do at the instant. Hell, I'm mostly self-taught as well, at least what comes to studio equipment. We're not trying to put you down or "make you go through all the bitter sh*t we've gone through".

I find it hard to believe that you are working with heavy hitters such as Usher and Outkast and your asking how to connect MIDI cables? I bet those artists will feel real comfortable knowing your behind that board for them and in full control!

    Gimme a Break, Man!

And not to further act like a 31 y/o hater but the rest of your post seemed like gibberish to me.

    Great post!

I feel sorry for this guy now......

MIDI out from your keyboard/controller---->MIDI in on the Tascam UB122

MIDI out from the Tascam UB122---->MIDI in on your Motif Rack

Make sure MIDI thru is active (Sometimes known as 'local off')

Set the motif rack to multi mode, initialize a multi, and choose your patchs from within your software sequencer. You now have 16 different MIDI channels to play with, meaning you can have 16 different sounds (at once).

There may be a better was than I suggested....but this is a start. Also try the motif forums for help.

That wasnt too hard now, was it?

Say hello to usher for me.

    Good luck!

    Taking bets:

How long before the "how come it doesn't play back the same sound" or "how come when I switch tracks it plays the first track with a different sound" thread?

Or any of the other "I didn't take the time to actually understand MIDI, so now I'm hopelessly confused" questions?

I think it's just that people like mr. Fewture here refuse to realize they're being helped on a long term basis; they only get it if someone gives them exact directions on what to do at a certain point, which leads to learning basically nothing. I don't know how many times I've read the ubiquitous "whatever man, just tell me how to hook my sh*t up"...what is it with people and the lack of will to actually spend time to learn?
