Whassup ya'll. This is C to the P. I just wanna know ya'lls current setup of gear and I want to know if you like it or not and why. I am in the process of getting some equipment. This is all I got:

    Triton Studio 61key w/cd burner
    Alesis m1 Active x 2
I forgot what type of mic
My MPC 2000XL is in the mail (can't wait)
    I have a computer: 2.8Ghz pentium 4, with 1G Ram
    Reason 2.5
    Fruity Loops

I don't like the computer way of doing things though. I thought I would, but I don't so I want to go the hardware way as much as possible. Help a brotha out on his decisions. One.

Well I'm assuming you're going to use your computer for your recording medium, I don't see a multitracker (of any flavour) on your list of stuff. You're going to have to get a sound card. I recommend getting into MOTU as they have sweet cards that fit any studio you could want in your house (that is unless you want to use protools).

Along with the sound card you're going to need some software to do your multitrack recording and mixing on. For the PC you're probably going to want to use something like Cubase if you go with a MOTU card, or protools if you go with protools hardware.

Now if you don't want to use the computer (and get access to all sorts of good plugins) you should get a mixer. Something from Yamaha or Mackie will do the trick and just use your computer for aux sends, directs/insert patch points so you can still use plugins for your mixing and just record the stereo output from the mixer to hard disc. This means you ahve to keep everything synced and record it that way. A mixture of this along with multitracking to your computer at first would also be another good road to travel.

Ya cp2_4eva sounds like u need to add a hard disk recorder or a soundcard to yur setup!

~O ya u might want to get a mixer so u can have yur Triton and yur XL runnin to yur mixer so u can hear both at the same time!

~Everything else u got in yur setup is nice!

Yeah, I was looking into a multitrack recorder. I want to go the hardware route as much as I can. I saw some dope mackie mixers with pre and phantom power for a good price. Yeah GoGetta, I am taking the hardware approach now. I remember that convo we had about hardware and software and now I see. So next up is either the mixer or multitrack recorder. I can get a mixer for way less than a recorder at this point so should I just get the mixer and record via comp? Or just wait to get the mutlitrack recorder?

U will end up gettin both eventually. U will need the mixer to hear yur XL and yur Triton then the hard disk recorder will be used to track yur beats and burn to yur music to cd. So just save up for both!

Yo, can't I hear my Triton through my MPC when I get that? Or is it just I can transfer the midi signals and I would have to still hook up that MPC and the Triton to the mixer's inputs and then the mixers outputs to the recorders inputs...or something like that? Help me out.

^^^^^^^^ exactly, you hook up your mpc and triton,up through midi, then you go line out of the triton and mpc,to line in,of the mixer, and line out of the mixer,to line in of the multitrack recoder.

So, in the mean time how can I record finished tracks with just a Triton Studio (CD burner) and MPC2000XL? Is there a way to sample it into the Triton and burn it? If so, then how? Let me know somethin'.
