    So I've been "About" to upgrade for about 5 months.

    Lol my issue is being told theres no reason to upgrade.

    However, I was told I need to upgrade my RAM and my CPU to get some good flying power.

    Now I do know my computers and components. I'm no newbie at this, however, this is confused me these pass few months.

    My computer specs are;

    Hewlett-Packard Compaq Presario.

    AMD Athlon 64 3800+

    2.40 Ghz

    1.00 GB of RAM

    My motherboard is an ASUS (Socket AM2)

    My RAM however, is like PC2 4200

    ----------------

    I know for sure my CPU is upgradeable. The RAM however I may run into a bit of a hassle. I wanted to get at least 2 GB of RAM (and some good RAM like Kingston)

    I know for sure I need a new Power supply change with only (250 WATTS)

    My upgrade specs;

    ASUS SLI Wireless AM2 motherboard (if needed)

    Kingston HyperX 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 3.0 GHz (Socket AM2)

    Sorry if it's all confusing. I'm trying to make a minor change to the PC. This one is starting to lag a bit and I need a memory upgrade and wanting and CPU upgrade.

    Thank if you can help!

    The only thing you may need to really upgrade is you memory. What are you running?

    I've been running Ableton Live 6 (7 Soon)

    FL

    A lot of Vst's

    I record much also and using chain effects. So it's a bit hectic when the it lags.

    IF your going to use that many VST's and effects, than I would upgrade your memory first. I would add more memory first and see how that works before upgrading your processor. I would also have all my music programs one a seperate drive and have all your music files on a seperate drive as well.
