I want to make hip hop beats.

i can get my hands on any software no problem, i want to use cubase and fruity loops.

i am getting an emu pk6 synth and have a drum machine, some decks and a pc.

i want a decent soundcard to connect things up but im a little confused how it works....here is what i think (or have gathered) correct me if i am wrong

    - my midi in and out of synth goes to midi in and out of soundcard

    - Then the outputs of the soundcard or breakout box go to the inputs of my spirit lx7 mixer.

    - then that goes to my recording (cd whateva)

    is this correct?

my inputs on my spirit mixer are mono TRS.....but the outputs on most soundcards tend to be stereo rca

can someone clafiry things for me if i am wrong.
    recomend me a compatible soundcard?
    i want to learn.
