Can M-Audio Mobile-Pre Work Work With Krk-6's?

I see bad reviews everywhere about this interface and it was the only one the store I went to had. Will it work or am I doing something wrong?

Yes, it will work with any monitors that connect to line outs.

The problem with the interface is 1) the audio drivers are not very good. This means that you may experience audio dropouts and not very good performance. This is also dependant on your computer specs. 2) The components are not great quality, in regards to the preamps, AD and DA converters.

I owned one years back on a 2004 Dell laptop, 1.4 single core CPU. It worked very well with Reason 3.0 on that setup.. and I didn't notice any issues for a few years. Then... I upgraded to Sonar 4 back in 2008 or 2009. I began noticing that I couldn't make moderate sized projects (ie.. multiple tracks... recording audio... several VSTs). I just couldn't do it without Audio Dropouts.

I then switched to an MAudio Firewire 410 (which obviously in firewire).. and saw a clear improvement. Better preamps... a little better converters... and much better performance from the firewire connection. Not sure if the drivers played a part in that.


However... with a better CPU than I had... MobilePre *might* suite your needs. But i'd recommend a Focusrite Scarlett... or something w/ a better track record than the MobilePre, unless you already purchased it.
