Probably the 88-key CME stuff, great feeling keybed, good price.

without any qualifiers in your question, you will not get a useful response.

That's like going to an auto show and yelling "Who makes the best car for the best price?".

You have not defined what you're looking for in a keyboard nor have you defined your price range. Until these are specified, you will likely not get the answer you're looking for.

for instance, one person may have a bit of cash in his pocket and have need for lots of features in a controller, so to him a CME VX8 is a great deal for $1000 when compared to a Clavia Stage 88 for over $3000.

Another person might be light in the pocket and may not need much more than a way to get notes into his PC. For that person, the Korg K25 for $100 is a great deal or maybe an old Novation MM10x or Yamaha CBXK1 off ebay is the hookup they need.

What I'm saying is that you need to give us more info, something describing your needs and price range and we can make recommendations based on that.

well what im looking for is something good for real instruments aswell as synthwork. therefore, i love the pitch bend on the edirol series, but prefer the keys on the m-audio series. when i say the midi keyboard has to be good on synthwork, im talking about how the keys play. i dont usually control any virtual instrument nobs with a midi keyboard, so load of nob functions arent really of any importance.

i like the axiom because of the pad options and keys, but i like the edirol pcr-m80 because of its pitch bend.

if you ask which is more important, pitch bend or pads, i would say pitch bend. so in summation, if there isnt much difference in the feel of the keys in the edirol as the m-audio, id get the edirol. if not, id lean closer toward the m-audio but would still be somewhat torn between the two.

so, is it safe to say that you're more interested in a board with a pitch/mod stick as opposed to separate pitch and mod wheels?

At least we've established he doesn't need a nice feeling key bed.

M-audio has a long line of options if the jerkiness of their keys doesn't bother you. I would say pick whatever from their line that fits your number of knobs and buttons and price range.

If that's the case then the PCR M80 is your best bet. The only other company I know of that does something similar is Novation, and their X-Station 61 runs about $600.
