    Audio interface question

So I need to buy a new interface because I got a macbook pro and from what I understand my old Mbox doesn't work w/ snow leopard. I work 95% of the time with Reason and now I got Record so I want to incorporate guitar and some hardware synths into my production. Basically my question is what's the best audio interface for the price if you aren't doing any micing and just using it for monitors, Record's line 6 plugin etc. (basic stuff)? I don't want to spend a lot 150-300 range preferably. I'm not really well informed when it comes to interfaces b/c I just rolled with MBOX for so many years and everything I've found when researching seems to contradict itself. I was looking at M-Audio's fast track pro but I heard some negative stuff about it that makes me hesitant. Anyone got a cheap interface that they actually like?

Take a look at some Apogee interfaces. I believe they make an interface in that price range that's said to be very good for the cost.

Fast Track Pro gets good reviews btw from many members on this site.. especially if you're just looking to incorporate some guitar and need good monitoring.

thanks for the response, yea the ideal interface for me is the Apogee Duet but it's like $495, which is a little pricey for what I'm trying to do. I'll probably go to guitar center to check out the fast track pro.

They make the Apogee One also.
I don't know the specs of it... but i believe it's in your price range. It's worth taking a look.

If 500 is pricey then you best bet is the maudio or presonus line imo

I'd go firewire though over USB if you want to monitor those Line 6 plugs.

    Maybe the Profire 610??

    Or the FireStudio Mobile??

    Or the Safire Pro 24??

    I LOVE ALL THE OPTIONS!!!

I wish i could build myself a new studio every few months. Damn.

EMU 0404's are very good. Probably even have better converters than those Apogees (which are overrated by the way...)

The thing that I don't like about the Apogees is that they never give info aboout those converters that are built in. As if they wanna hide something.

That thing got very good converters (A/D: 113dB SNR, D/A: 117dB SNR), a good preamp and a good heaphone preamp. Some hifi enthusiasts buy it only to use it as a heaphone preamp lol

oh year for your macbook (to match the colour): http://us.store.creative.com/0404-US...sReviewsWidget

with all those features its unbeatable for its price...
