    88-key fully weighted MIDI controller

    Hello FP,

I'm looking to upgrade to a larger MIDI keyboard with a full set of proper keys as I'm learning piano a little more seriously now and I'm running out of keys on a 49-key controller.

I was wondering if an 88-key fully weighted MIDI controller existed WITHOUT any other bells and whistles. Just a set of keys, rather like this one:

    http://www.turnkey.co.uk/web/product...ar&model=TMK88

    ..but fully weighted.

The M-audio keystation pro 88 is nice but its got way too many other controllers that I won't use, and it makes the damn thing too chunky.

And also, is there a huge difference between semi and fully weighted?

    Any help is appreciated, thanks.

The only one I can think of off hand is the new EMU Xboard61 which is semi weighted... I would have to do some research on that, cause I've seen one before but I dont know if it was fully weighted...

You could get the Keystation without all the buttons and if I'm not mistaken, it still has the hammered keys. It also has 88 keys so, you will not run out of room. I have the M Audio Keystation Pro and I love it because, you can assign the side transport buttons on the side. It's great for sequencing too because you can assign those sliders and knobs so, it's totally up to you. You can get the Keystation with or without the all the buttons. Hope that helped!

I wouldn't pay that much for the M-Audio boards. I tested them and the keys felt cheap and overall construction was pretty plasticy. Not nice at all.

How much you looking to spend?

CME UF8 is also supposed to be nice and has a metal case instead of cheap plastic.

    Has extra controls though

I guess it's all a matter of opinion because, I love the M Audio Prostation! especially if all you need is a midi controller and assignable controllers are great too but, there are a lot of options so, go to your local pro audio store and test it out for yourself because, you're going to get plenty of opinions on a forum about midi controllers!
