I have a question I was wondering if I took a Jazz Drumming Class at my local Community College would that help program drums better in hardware and software?

Well put it like this, it won't make it worse.. Didn't mean that in a sarcastic way.
It will help! Jazz is one of the trickiest style of drumming.
Will definitely help. My drum programming's come on a long way since I've been playing the drums.. Jazz is tricky, but I suspect programming jazz is even trickier![]()
I bought a drum kit a month ago and here are the fruits of the labor so far
Yes I suck, but keep in mind how long I've had my kit for.
I took it out on the street that day to finally try playing loud (without muffles)

Keep at it dude. I will check you vid out later on, be interesting to see how quickly you've picked it up.. I've been drumming for about 8 months now, but probably not learning as quick as I should be!
One thing cool about playing the drums is you will have a deeper understanding of rhythmic concepts. That helps everywhere, not just on the drumming front. So, yeah you should improve your rhythm programming with some drum studies, jazz or otherwise.
Taking lessons will definitely help. I been playing for about 7 years now, and taking lessons did help a lot.

So far so good! I just realized two important things about drums/percussions:
1. Stay in the groove, always. And if you can't incorporate the complex stuff smoothly into your flow, then don't do it until you master it. Better clean and simple than complex and garbage. Same principles apply to sequencing. Don't over-think the pattern, feel it.
2. I really understood how slight changes in the pattern can change the whole feel and style of the song. For example, I just discovered that the difference between a polka song and Dr. Dre's "Still D.R.E." is just a single kick.![]()
