Good quality Free plugins and samples

Hi, i just joined this forum and im quite new to the world of producing. I recently downloaded ableton live as my preferred DAW and i'm looking for some good free VST plugins/ samples/ drum machines. I see a lot of people saying not to go mad and download as much as you can, so i was just wanting to know of any good sites or specific plugins that are good for making deep house music as i don't want to get into the habit of using the ableton presets. I apologise for asking this question as i'm sure a lot of people as it but as a newbie i'd appreciate any help.

DSK MIniDrumZ (or whatever it's called). is handy for getting some drum sounds quick. But for more sophisticated sample playback, Vember ShortCircuit 1.1.2 is pretty good for having one or more samples on every key.

Take a look at the KVR plugin database, just set the search filter to only show freeware plugins
 
Check out native instruments, you might find something there thats handy, maybe a free trial or demo or even free vst's.

I would try "Voices of the 70s" a Royalty-Free VOCAL sample pack that contains over 200 one-shots, chants and screams from vocalists that sound like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Steven Tyler and Bob Dylan. Google it.
 
If you look up TAL VST they have some nice free things. They have a simple subtractive synthesizer called Noisemaker that use from time to time. I also use their chorus effect.

Anther good free plugin use is called camelcrusher, it's a distortion effect. I use it on my 808 & subs every once and a while to add some crunch.
 
There is a nice list (with reviews) of free plugins and sample packs on Bedroom Producers Blog (can't paste a link - not enough posts). Lots of good stuff there for free.

try out the free synths and sample collection at Noizefield.com (under Downloads) (if you like club/EDM/Dancemusic.)
there are also good samples from Function Loops.
