What would be the best description for 1 and 2 in pic above.

Its a synthesizer and different people use different terms what would people on here say is the most common or understandable?

1 represents a 'trigger' which sets a sample playing on that track and channel
2 represents one 'page' in the song, made up of 32 'triggers' which can be set on or off by the user.

1 represents a grid layer with 32 cells per row. There is no more specific information than this. it could be a single bar (most likely) with 32nd note divisions or it could be 2 bars showing the half note division broken into 8 16ths or it could be four bars with each bar broken into 8ths - without clearer information it is not possible to decipher which of these situations is the correct one.
2 is a cell in that grid which is the trigger (and a velocity level it would appear)) for a specific sample at a specific point within the 32 cells.

Yes i think the entire section 1 could be one bar or two depending on the BPM of the song. The user can set the BPM which means each section can be anything from 2 seconds to 8+.

So it would be wrong to call the entire section a bar.

another question.

When you refer to channels in a composition it is assumed that you are talking about left and right so either you have 1 (mono) or 2 (stereo) channels right. So there can be a max of two?

In the arranger panel in the pic above. we have upto 16 tracks going down the left hand side. But along the top we have upto 8 'sections', where each section has upto 16 tracks. Would it be inappropriate to call these sections "channels"? Would it be better to call them "layers" or something else?

Your assumption is wrong.

Every channel can be left (panned hard left) or right (panned hard right) or both (panned in the center) or at some other point between center and left or right

The final mix can be to mono (a single audio channel) or to stereo (a pair of audio channels), which is a combination of the panning of all the tracks.

based on the image above you have 8 channels/tracks with 16 layers for each channel/track
