Help with installing to an external portable hard drive

I was thinking about trying to install my VSTs to my new portable hard drive. But I am encountering some problems. First FL studio will not scan the folder that corresponds to my external hard drive. . I have successfully done this before with my east west symphonic choirs. I just tried to do it with my new IK plug ins and it didn't work that way. So should I just install the programs to my computer's internal hard drive and load the samples from the external hard drive?

lol........that's funny but it's a common error.If you don't add folder locations in your D.A.W how does it know where to look?That's the first thing i do when i install a D.A.W. head straight to audio/midi and folder settings.Once they're set then you can work out the bugs.
