FL Studio recording on pattern instead of piano roll?

So usually I play a melody on my midi keyboard and record it and it goes straight to piano roll. However, now it only records onto the pattern which I only use for drums. How can I fix this? I must have accidentally messed up the settings but I can't figure out what I did.
