FL Studio recording automation live, i.e. turning knobs, for the length of the song

How would I do this? I'll give a simple example to explain. Lets say I'm playing back a song and I want to record my knob turning, for the length of the entire song, longer than just a pattern, the length of the whole song. Ideally I would want this to record to a long automation clip so I could fine tune that also. I know how to do the automation clips and make them as long as I need, but is there anyway to record LIVE knob turning like this?

Yea just turn on the record button and do all the tweaking live. Fl studio will save all the automation into a pattern you have selected at the time of recording. You gotta make sure that FL studio's recording your automation (can check by left clicking on the record button and seeing if there's a checkmark by "automation"
