FL completely stops playback when adjusting parameters

I've been dealing with this problem for a long time now and today I just had enough.

For some reason EVERYTIME I try to adjust a parameter on a plug-in, playback completely stops so there is no way I can adjust in real time.:4theloveofgod:

I have to make an adjustment and then play it back...It really puts a hamper on things and really slows up my work flow to say the least. please can someone help me out, or at least point me in the right direction? My sanity depends on it.
