Vocal Tracking

Just wondering , do you mix the beat\music down to a 2 track mix then record vocal's or do you mix everything as a whole after the vocals are recorded ?

we all do every day , but i mix every thing as a whole just in case something get's in the way of the vocals.
i was asking because i saw you tube vidz of like banks and others and it looked like they bounce the inst. then record vocals .
 
Sometimes people track vocals to a 2 track out of convenience. This puts less of a drain on your system while recording since you are not playing back multiple vst and tracks. Also it simpler when sending the track out for someone to lay a verse that is far away. From there you can import the vocal tracks into the original session for mixing. Final mixing the entire session together is always the most ideal IMO.
 
umm, ok ....i can see doing that .makes a lot of since .i was really just wondering to say the lest .
