I got this from the SF forums:

New in ACID PRO 4.0
-Plug-In effects automation
-ASIO driver support
-5.1 surround mixing
-MIDI piano roll editing
-Yamaha OPT support
-VSTi support
-Alternate time signatures
-Master, auxiliary, and effects bus tracks
-MIDI event list editing and step recording
-Loop Cloning

No ReWire, but it's a definite step forward. They said a beta version will be available in a few weeks.

OH MY GOD!!! SWEET!!! Finally VST Support. Now if they'd only follow suit at Propellerheads and add VST support for that (since I cant afford Cubase right now).

More new stuff for 4.0:

- Enhanced time stretching for Beatmapped tracks
- Hotkey commands for track Muting and Soloing
- New envelope fade types
- Autosave crash recovery
- Optimized DLS and VSTi soft synth model
- New audio panning models
- Customizable default track properties
- Optimized ACID playback engine
- Advanced video rendering options
- Video frame rate resampling and deinterlacing
- Multiple pixel aspect ratio support for videos
- Windows Media™ Audio and Video import

I used Acid 3.0 when if first came out and I see it movin' along. If they added ReWire to the mix, do you think that it could become the next Cubase (or a very worthy opponent)?

Well if the other new features they are adding work as smoothly as the rest of ACID always had, I would say yes! WIth Rewire and VST and MIDI support, and even the Drumroll feature, how could it not? And it'll save having to use a VST sampler cuz you can just paste the loops in in traditional ACID fashion, :D
