CPU usage with Ableton Live

Hey. I'm running Ableton Live on a 667 MHz G4 Powerbook, and with only 5 effects the CPU usage rate is at 45% when it isn't playing and 70% if it is. Can that be right?

My audio interface / soundcard is a Tascam US-224, and I tried messing with the latency settings in the hopes that it would help, but it didn't.

I just switched from Mac to PC, so I haven't quite learned the ins and outs of this thing...

Any ideas? Am I missing something stupid? Thanks.
 
Have you tried the message boards at Ableton.com? Someone there is bound to have an answer. I use Live on Mac so I can't help out, sorry.
