buffer length or buffer size

Deals with processing. The lower the rate the less apparent latency you will have but you also will put a harder strain on your system. This is displayed sometimes when your interface is clicking and popping on all audio. Setting the rate higher reduces the load on your system because it give it more time to process the audio but the latency will increase.
