Ableton 9 or FL Studio 12

All daws have pros & cons but if you do not care for clip launching/DJing then either one would suit you.
Out of those 2 choices?...I'd stick to fl studio then.

Ableton, but I'm only saying that because I use Ableton and like it haha. They're both good at their own thing. FL might be a little more user friendly and Ableton might be a little more complex and involved.

Windows i tried both fl studio is more easy to use but i think ableton is harder to learn but worth it in long run. Its good just to get others opinion on this before deciding one which one to settle.

I'm no expert so this comes from the perspective of someone newish. I started out with FLS and liked it, but, wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I had a subscription to Groove3.com and watched their course on Ableton and discovered there were a lot of cool features I was unaware of. There was a learning curve in getting used to the new interface and workflow, but, now I could never imagine going back to FLS. Just my two cents.

To be honest, they're both the same. It's like saying, should I buy a Toyota or a Honda? The functions are all the same, but the controls and knobs are probably placed in different areas but they do the same thing. At the end of the day that's what it comes down to, cause either car can take you from Point A to Point B easily.

All I can say is this, pick ONE and learn it IN AND OUT. That's all that matters.

I will say this however, FL Studio is the better software for the beginner, it's layout makes it much easier to pick it up and go. Not to say that Ableton isn't easy to learn, cause it's also very simple at it's core. But FL Studio's interface is much more straight forward with a much easier learning curve in my opinion. Ableton is really good if you want to get REALLY technical with your sounds and parameters, you can do the same with FL, but Ableton makes that much more simpler for the user.

I started using FL Studio when I first began making beats, I loved. Then I bought a MacBook and I decided I'd try out every DAW until i found one that I loved. Ableton was it. I still use FL Studio from time to time, I do a lot of collaborations with a buddy of mine who uses FL, but my main DAW is Ableton.

Hope that helps!

Cubase, FL, Ableton... In that order. Fact. BUT personal workflow and experience can change this. Ableton used to be ahead of FL but FL has made huge improvements. Cubase however has features that dominates both combined, features that you will likely never need to use or ever realise they even exist as such.

How does cubase map to controllers? Is it pretty easy?

I write and record song in FL Studio, but perform live with ableton (what it was intended for initially). The midi mapping is very easy, and fun, in ableton 9.
But if cubase is better like you say, I'll consider it too.

Daws with wait for midi usually don't let you route to transport.
Daws that do lack wait for midi. I wonder if that's why hm...

But yep mapping stuff in daws is hella simple.

Both come bundled with some great plugins and instruments. So its a tough choice between the two. FL Studio is Windows only for now, so that might help narrow that down if you only on PC.

Ableton is great for music production and if you want to build a DJ set. Also if you go with the Suite version it comes with Max 4 Live where you can even build your own plugins and tools if you're that way inclined.

I think the new FLs are on mac. I may be wrong..

It currently runs under emulation on Mac, or you use Bootcamp to run it under Windows on a Mac. There is an alpha version available that can run on Mac but its still a bit buggy. Can't wait to see it fully on Mac. Its been too long waiting for it to be Mac compatible.

FL Studio is extremely user-friendly for the newbies thus why it's one of the most used DAW. However, its workflow is ignoring and it lacks many features that other DAW ie Ableton Live 9, Presonus Studio One 3, Apple Logic Pro 9, etc... has. Great production has been made within it though, so it all comes down to personal preference.

anyone with keygen for FL 12 ? please
This forum prohibits that.
Buy the daw if you like it or use free ones. (Or get fruity edition and upgrade later on)
Do your research, learn your tools. (Takes a lot less time than procrastination)
