Can you ruin your samples in FL Studio by over processing?

Can you butcher the main sound in the mixer by adding effects and taking them away a bunch of times? Because I'm just learning the DAW and I'm experimenting A LOT and it seems like I'm ruining my samples by tinkering with things over and over.

You can over-effect/over-process any sample in any DAW. Save your raw files, so you can start over if you don't like the results. There are technically unlimited layers of "undo," but sometimes in the "workflow muscle-memory" hitting "save" becomes automatic. Having the un-effected source sample is important.

Definitely you can ruin them... especially if they're low quality.. at the same time, what you can do to them is pretty limited as well. Maybe it's time to start messing with synths then?
