Yesterday at NAMM, Avid announced it would offer Pro Tools for free (not HD, silly), called Pro Tools | First.
Despite the fact that you'll only be aloud 3 sessions (in the cloud) -- I haven't read all the other limitations yet -- I think i'm still gonna give it a shot, for education purposes. See the fact that I was never able to crack it before (due to the dongle) has always kept me away from learning it, and eventually buy it.
