Will these studio monitors work with an audio interface?!?

Okay, I have Alesis M1 Active 520 USB Monitors and I want the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB Interface. Will I be able to plug 1/4" cords from the L and R inputs on the monitors into the L and R outputs on the interface and have everything work properly? My concern is that both the L and R inputs on the monitors are on 1 speaker. Usually theres one on each. Also If the monitors are USB can I even use them on and audio interface? The reason why the inputs are on one monitor versus having one on each is because of the USB connection - basically there's a small built-in audio interface in the monitor, which in this case only outputs audio from the computer (so there's a d/a converter in there). But if you just use the analog connections (no, you can't use USB while using an audio interface), these'll work like any other set of monitors.
