Will more ram help?

Hi,

I'm currently producing from my laptop, its a decent gaming laptop running on an ssd with 16gb of ram. It's fast but does struggle with running big plug ins like omnisphere, kontakt, etc. And can occasionally crash. The CPU meter at the top of FL will often fill up when running too much plug ins which can then crash and cause glitches.

I can upgrade to 32gb of ram, will this fix these issues?

In your case, additional RAM won't make any difference at all.

Additional RAM can only make your computer as fast as its processor is (and most laptop processors aren't very fast). The only solution to your problem would be to put your money toward a computer with a stronger processor (preferably a desktop with an Intel or AMD Ryzen processor) , but that is up to your discretion of whether it's worth the money.

I recently upgraded my 4gigs to 16 and honestly I don't feel too much change in performance. I use a 4 years old i5, should upgrade to i7 I guess :)

i too think that ram is not the bottleneck.
i think the software itself is.
i checked out symphobia and other projectsam stuff and some big presets can be used flawlesly and some smaller ones kill my quadcore with 12gb ram.
i think software is itchy at times
