Hey guys on ebay there are a pair of KRK 5 G2s for $180 is that a good deal.

Are there any better monitors I can get for under $200 or should I just cash out on the KRKs?

If it helps I've never had monitors before just made beats on audio technicas and a surround sound system

Rokits are good 'affordable' speakers. The same can be said for the yamaha's in that price bracket.

With the 5" speakers you will need a sub to balance out the low end.

Another good option in the "below $200 range" would be alesis m1's.

Whichever ones you get - learn 'em.

The better you know your monitors ( good and bad frequencies ) the better your mixes will sound.

Good luck-

Personally I wouldnt buy rokits if they were 50% off, let alone 5 inch rokits. What are you going to be using them for mostly?

I had KRK Rokit 8s in the past. Currently have (for the past 3 years) Yamaha HS50m's. Much more precise and surgical than the KRKs. You can get a new pair for $200 if you look hard enough.
