Yamaha Su700 Market value??

I'm thinking of buying a Yamaha SU700 in brand new condition. Is $399 a fair price for it or is it inflated?

In my lifetime, I bought two of these on ebay and recently sold one.

No matter how great the condition of these units, don't pay more than $150 for it. Keep an eye out for auctions, they usually go for less than $170.

Incredible little machine, btw.

$399 is RS-7000 money. LD is right, sub $200 at best.

I'm not familiar with this piece of gear but anything that isn't a current model, and more so, anything that is not very popular can be had for very cheap if you wait for a deal.

Yea about 200$ for it would a an ok price. They were selling those (brand new) in stores back in 2002 for 400€.

I don't buy much secondhand gear anymore these days, but as a rule of thumb I usually go with half retail price or slightly more when it concerns relatively new or popular gear. Anything more expensive second hand probably is worth buying new.

Older or ancient gear can be any price, mostly depending on how rare or popular it is. Some of those classics are still expensive, but it usually means you can get rid of it for about the same price years later.
