after years in music production on pc, I want go back to basics.

I'm looking for the cheapest and easiest hardware device on the market that still allows me to create decent tracks (SP 404 ?).

thanks in advance for your ideas

I'd go with something used if you want cheap, you'll get something much better for the price. I'd go with the something in the yamaha line for all in one like the RS-7000, R1MX or SU-700

thanks for the info.

The reason why I mentioned cheap is not because of the money but because of the limitations that come with it.

At the moment I feel a little overwhelmed with all the possibilities of computer music and expensive hardware.

That's why I am looking for a device that is intuitive, creativity focused with a minimal feature set which still allows to produce great music.

Hope this makes sense :-)

rs7000 is a good bet...
but if you don't need sampling, check out the Emu XL7.The command stations offer 16 tracks of sequencing and has the ability to add roms for more sounds.
