MPC2000XL record in help....

I have a question, hope you guys could help me out.

When I attempt to plug in my turntable via rca to the record in on the 2000xl and attempt to record the sample. It is extremely low... To the point where i can barely hear it out of my monitors no matter how high the record gain is. I was thinking maybe it was the turntable so I plugged in my ipod and I got the same results. Anyone ever experience this? Is something wrong with the record in on the 2000xl?
 
You need a preamp, for example a DJ mixer. Plug the turntable into the DJ mixer, and then sample the DJ-mixers outs.
You can find a dj mixer dirt cheap.
 
You should already have something that makes your turntable play loud thru speakers. Something with a volume knob on it. Plug the turntable into that, and that into the MPC.
