MPC2000 with a USB Drive?

Hi all. I'm using an MPC2000 and have had a zip drive hooked up to it for-freakin-ever. I decided it's time to move to the modern era with my storage (but NEVER with my beat-making devices - tapping it out forever). Zip disks are just too iffy to store my stuff for all eternity.

Is it possible to use the MPC2000 with a usb/firewire external drive? The MPC only has a scsi (25-pin) connection so I assume I need a scsi->usb converter/adapter, which seem to be available online for ~125, but I want to make sure that the file types and file structure can be stored on a usb/firewire device in a way that the MPC understands as it did on the zip disks.

No to an external USB or Firewire drive. Bruh... your are dealing with a 14 year old midi production center. your best bet is to try and modify it for an internal card reader and get rid of the ZIPs.
